The county district has the expanse of about 150 km2, of
which more than 50% is covered in forest. It is situated in the
valley of Vinodol, the distance from the sea comes to about 2-3 km,
and in the depth towards the forest area 30 km to the border with
county districts of Gorski Kotar. The main centre of the county
district of Vinodol is Bribir.
Bribir, Grižane-Belgrad and Drivenik have their signment in the Law
of Vinodol from 1288., one of the first juridical regulations in
this part of Europe.
There are twelve churches in service today at the territory of this
county district, and there are 27 buildings left in traces, what
proves that this part was a significant ecclesiastical centre. Each
town has its patron saint and his holiday: Bribir - St. Peter and
Paul, Grižane - Belgrad - St. Martin, Tribalj - St. Elisabeth, Drivenik
- St. Dujam.
